JEWELLERY CARE

WITH A LITTLE TLC, YOU CAN KEEP YOUR NEW AND SHINEY JEWELLERY LOOKING THAT WAY.

  • Natural moisture, oils and salts from the skin encourage the appearance of tarnish. After you have worn an item giving it a wipe it with a soft cloth will help remove these before storage. All our jewellery boxes include an anti-tarnish tab, which will provide tarnish protection for silver, gold, brass, copper and bronze when the jewellery is stored there.
  • Keep your jewellery dry. Don’t forget to remove your rings when washing up, swimming, bathing or showering.
  • For all jewellery avoid exposure to hot water, chemicals and acids (such as household chemicals, perfumes, or hairspray). These may erode the finish or cause discolouration. Soaps can also leave a film over metal and stones, creating a dull appearance, and soap particles may become lodged in stone settings and recesses.
  • To prevent scratches and other impact induced damage, avoid wearing jewellery when playing sport, on the beach, swimming, cleaning, gardening, etc.
  • Check regularly for signs of wear and tear, particularly around moving parts and exposed areas such as catches, joints and stone settings. Over time, some stone settings can become loose, especially when caught on garments or in contact with hard surfaces.
  • To avoid damage when not in use, keep your jewellery in separate boxes, and fasten all chains and catches before storing flat.
